AI Reasoning:

Alignment with Outcomes:

  • The assignment aligns with the learning outcomes by asking students to synthesize material on sleep and development. However, it could be improved by explicitly stating the transferable skills students are expected to demonstrate.

Cognitive Demand:

  • The assignment lacks higher-order thinking as it mainly requires recalling information rather than analysis or synthesis. Including more complex questions or tasks would enhance cognitive demand.

Authenticity/Context:

  • The assignment situates the task in a real-world context related to sleep and development, providing authenticity. To further enhance this criterion, incorporating real-life scenarios or case studies could deepen the authenticity.

Accessibility/Equity:

  • The assignment lacks accessibility as it does not offer multiple pathways or formats for students to demonstrate understanding. Providing options for different learning styles and abilities would improve equity.

Process Visibility:

  • The assignment requires students to reflect on the material learned, promoting process visibility. Including opportunities for drafts, revisions, or peer feedback would further enhance process visibility.

AI Transparency & Ethical Literacy:

  • The assignment does not address AI use or ethical considerations, resulting in a low rating for AI transparency. Including guidelines on distinguishing student work from AI-generated content and discussing ethical implications of AI use would improve this aspect.

Teaching Methods:

  • The assignment could benefit from more interactive and engaging teaching methods to actively involve students in AI-aware learning. Incorporating group discussions, peer reviews, or presentations could enhance student engagement and inclusivity.
