Methods Application Project “Applying the best Methods to your unique learners and settings!” This practice exercise offers you, in the role of an Adult Educator, an opportunity to evaluate the spectrum of teaching methods relative to: Effectively meeting the needs of your learners in a specific context Effectively meeting your learning objectives We have explored important Adult Learning theories, settings, methods, strategies, and tools. This project is your opportunity to apply them in a lesson of your own. NOTE: This is an application exercise. Be creative! This is a growth opportunity to explore adult teaching methods that may be outside your usual practice or comfort zone. Assessment criteria for this exercise can be found at the end of this document. As we discussed during the Learning Objectives Module, strong lessons, objectives, and resources need to be related to larger teaching and learning goals within a specific context. In this project you will be customizing your teaching methods to meet the specific needs of your learners, context, setting, and learning objectives. Overview: You may want to complete this section last, please be sure to Identify your document as MAP Project 1 (face-to-face lesson) or MAP Project 2 asynchronous online lesson and place your last name in the file name. Please include an on the last page of this document. Students are welcome to do their own research or include resources from class to meet the citation requirements. Please to not put a reference list in the text boxes, you will include references in the text boxes the same way you would in a paper. Sketch out your ideas. Use the table below to sketch out your ideas for section 3 below. Please draft two instructional Outcomes in the chart below. Please complete the remainder of the chart to outline your instructional goals and objectives. This is a small project; we are sketching out ideas. We will only be working on creating a lesson for one or two goals/objectives. You will be drafting two goals, two learning objectives and choosing customized teaching methods for this lesson. Each objective must have a clear assessment. Make sure to describe it (narrative is fine at this stage). 3. Instructional Resources Your overall instructional program will include various instructional resources. These might include slides, videos, infographics, comics, posters, etc. You must have at least three (3) created resources/artifacts as part of your instructional program. Below, detail the three resources that you will create. You will be required to create the following three resources/artifacts. 5. Reflection/Explanation concerning your instructional design process and methods choices (800-1000 words): Your reflection should be written as a master’s level reflective paper (not an outline) and address: How your lesson responds to various learning styles of adult learners How your resource incorporates accessibility How your lesson helps you meet your objectives How you are applying methods and materials that facilitate adult learning, the transfer of learning Explain what informed your decisions to create your specific three resources.
